Post-Procedure Care

After endodontic treatment, you should avoid hard and sticky foods. This will keep the temporary restoration in place until you see your general dentist. Your general dentist will do the permanent restoration. It is normal to experience tenderness in the area for a few days following the root canal treatment. Your jaw may be tender from holding it open during the procedure. This is usually temporary. The discomfort can be handled with over-the-counter pain medications. You may be placed on an antibiotic by the endodontist. If you are prescribed an antibiotic, please take it as directed until it’s gone.

If you experience swelling or severe pain that lasts more than a few days, contact the office.
